ANNUAL RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM 2025 CONCLUDES AT SLAF ACADEMY CHINA BAY

The Annual Research Symposium 2025 (ARS-2025) was successfully concluded for the second consecutive year at the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy, China Bay, yesterday (26 January 2026). The symposium was conducted under the patronage of the Commandant, SLAF Academy China Bay, Air Commodore Amal Perera.

Professor Ajith Weerasinghe from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University participated as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker and delivered an address during the symposium.

A total of twenty research papers were selected for the symposium, of which six papers were presented by the respective researchers. Following the evaluation process, the research paper titled “Strategic Implementation of Human–AI Collaboration in Air Defence Command and Control: A Solution for the Dearth of Manpower in Developing Air Forces”, presented by Squadron Leader LKMKB Alawala, was adjudged the Best Research Paper.

Second Place was awarded to the research paper titled “Reimagining SLAF Training – A New Training Paradigm through Neurocognitive and Generational Insights”, jointly presented by Squadron Leader MS Iqbal, Squadron Leader LR Weerasekara and Squadron Leader TAIM Mayadunna.

The Third Place was awarded to Squadron Leader CN Deweniguruge for the research paper titled “A Study on Evaluating the Effectiveness of Runway Safety Monitoring Mechanisms in the Sri Lanka Air Force.”
The symposium also saw the participation of members from the Sri Lanka Army and the Sri Lanka Navy.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
