Inter Unit and Open Badminton Tournament – 2011
7:00pm on Tuesday 9th August 2011
The Sri Lanka Air Force academy China Bay became the Inter Unit Badminton Champions 2011 defeating the SLAF Base Katunayake Tech Formation team at the Katunayake Indoor Stadium on 05th August 2011.
Over 120 players representing the 16 Air Force establishments took part in the tournament where Officer Cadet Bandara SARSU was awarded with the ‘Corporal Gunawardana Memorial Trophy’ which is awarded to the best player of the tournament.
The President of the Sri Lanka Badminton Association Mr. Parakkrama Basnayake graced the occasion as the Chief Guest whilst Base Commander Katunayake Air Commodore Ranil Gurusinghe, Chairman SLAF Badminton Group Captain Ranjith Senanayake, Commanding Officer General Engineering Wing, Group Captain Wasantha Amarakoon, Commanding Officer Aeronautical Engineering Wing, Group Captain Mahilal Rathnayake, Commanding Officer Supply & Maintenance Wing, Group Captain Jagath Hemasingha and were amongst the distinguished gathering.
