AIRCRAFT OVERHAUL WING SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE MARKS 10TH ANNIVERSARY WITH COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT IN MINUWANGODA
In line with the 10th Anniversary of the Aircraft Overhaul Wing (AOW), SLAF Base Katunayake conducted a community service project yesterday (09 February 2026) at the Muditha Children’s Development Centre, Minuwangoda.
The programme was carried out under the guidance of the Commanding Officer, Group Captain Malitha Kumarage, with the active participation of personnel of the Aircraft Overhaul Wing. As part of the initiative, the buildings of the centre were colour-washed and refurbished, significantly enhancing the living environment of the resident children.
The project was further strengthened with the support of partners and well-wishers. The Chinese Special Overhaul Team (SOT), with the support of CATIC, donated personal clothing for the children, while the Aircraft Overhaul Wing provided general donations, including meals, essential daily-use items, and plants.

To commemorate the occasion, the Commanding Officer planted a sapling within the premises, symbolising the Wing’s commitment to community welfare and environmental sustainability.
