RACING TO THE FINISH LINE 'GUWAN HAMUDA PAPEDI SAWARIYA 2026'
The final and third stage concluded, which is the three-day strive of the Men’s race, at the iconic city Defence Headquarters Akuregoda today (01 March 2026). Today’s journey from Dambulla to Defence Headquarters Akuregoda covered a distance of 134.3 km. Eshan SPN from SLAF secured the 1st in the third leg and Ravindu Sithumina from Ja Ela Flash Wheel and De Silva LSC from the SLAF finished the final leap in the second and third places, respectively.
The Women’s race also flagged off today, with competitors riding 81.9 km from Meerigama to Defence Headquarters, Akuregoda. Anne Shenali of Friends Cycle Club emerged victorious, securing first place. Dinesha Dilrukshi from SLAF finished in second position, followed by Sudarika Priyadarshani of Speed Star Cycle Club, who claimed third place.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on the premises at Air Force Headquarters this evening with the graceful presence of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, as the Chief Guest.
