SLAF 75TH ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION AND AIR SHOW CONCLUDES SUCCESSFULLY WITH LARGE PUBLIC TURNOUT

The Sri Lanka Air Force 75th Anniversary Exhibition and Air Show, held at SLAF Base Ratmalana from 06 to 08 March 2026, concluded successfully, drawing a large gathering of visitors during the three days it was open to the public.

Organized to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force, the exhibition and air show provided the public with a rare opportunity to witness a wide range of operational Sri Lanka Air Force aircraft and selected civilian aircraft at close quarters while learning about their technical specifications and operational roles.

The aerial display segment featured impressive flying demonstrations by several Sri Lanka Air Force operational flying squadrons, showcasing the capabilities of SLAF helicopters, transport aircraft and jet aircraft.

The air show was further enhanced by the participation of several civil flight operators including Rathna Aviation, Senok Aviation, Lakwin Aviation, Red Bird Aviation, Asian Aviation, Sakurai Aviation and DP Aviation. Cinnamon Air also participated in the flying display segment, highlighting the broader spectrum of the country’s aviation sector alongside the operational capabilities of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

Visitors were able to explore a variety of educational and technological display booths highlighting aeronautical engineering, aviation technology and the operational capabilities of the Sri Lanka Air Force. Dedicated trade booths representing various Air Force branches and professions also offered insight into the diverse career opportunities and specialized fields within the Sri Lanka Air Force.

The programme also featured a range of operational and ceremonial demonstrations including night drone light displays, demonstrations by the SLAF No. 48 K-9 Wing, Special Forces combat and rescue operation simulations, aircraft firefighting demonstrations, parachute displays, precision drill displays, traditional Angampora martial arts demonstrations and cultural performances.

The overall coordination and planning of the SLAF 75th Anniversary Exhibition and Air Show was carried out by the Director General Planning, Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva while the event was conducted under the supervision of the Base Commander of SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Vice Marshal Dinesh Jayaweera. 

The exhibition and air show concluded on a high note, successfully showcasing the proud legacy, operational capabilities and future aspirations of the Sri Lanka Air Force while providing an engaging and memorable experience for the large number of visitors who attended.
