NO 2 AIR DEFENCE RADAR SQUADRON AT SLAF BASE VAVUNIYA CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY
The No. 2 Air Defence Radar Squadron at the SLAF Base Vavuniya celebrated its 20th anniversary yesterday (10 March 2026). The Squadron was originally established on 10 March 2006 with the introduction of the Indra MK II Radar System.
The proceedings commenced with a parade inspected by the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander JAK Jayawickrama, followed by a friendly cricket tournament among squadron service personnel. As part of the anniversary celebrations, a Shramadana campaign was conducted on 06 March 2026 at Kudakachchakodiya Primary School to clean and renovate sections of the school premises.
In addition, to mark the occasion, lunch was offered to the schoolchildren and stationery items were distributed among them on 09 March 2026.
