The Change of Command at the Aircraft Engineering Wing (AEW), SLAF Base Katunayake was conducted today (20 March 2026). The traditional Handing Over / Taking Over parade took place at the Wing premises where the outgoing Commanding Officer Group Captain WUS De Silva USP, BSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, psc, Z handed over the command to Group Captain GTUI Wijerathna USP, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), AMITD(SL), psc.

Group Captain Wijerathna previously held the appointment of Commanding Officer Aeronautical Engineering Support Wing (ASW) before being appointed as the Commanding Officer of the Aircraft Engineering Wing. The outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain De Silva will be proceeding to his next appointment as the Acting Director Aeronautical Engineering Maintenance.
