THE 1ST FLIGHT SAFETY WORKSHOP FOR NCOS FOR THE YEAR 2026

The 22nd consecutive Flight Safety Workshop for Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs), marking the first batch for 2026, was recently concluded at the No. 61 Flight Lecture Hall of SLAF Base Ratmalana. The five-day programme saw the participation of 36 NCOs representing all Directorates.

The workshop covered key areas of Flight Safety, including Safety Management Systems, Aviation Physiology and Psychology, Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard, Aircraft Accident Investigation, Material Factors, Human Factors, Aircraft Fire Fighting, and aspects of Air Traffic Services. All sessions were conducted by a panel of highly qualified and experienced Officers.

The opening address was delivered by Wing Commander Gihan Dias on behalf of the Director Flight Safety. The certificate awarding ceremony was held in the presence of the Commanding Officer of the Aeronautical Engineering Support Wing, Group Captain Lasantha Rajasinghe, along with Chief Flight Safety Inspector (Flying), Wing Commander Viraj Jayawardene, Chief Flight Safety Inspector (Engineering), Wing Commander Raveen Liyanaarachchi, Flight Safety Inspector (ATC), Squadron Leader Anjelo Silva and Flight Safety Inspector (Rotor Wing), Squadron Leader Nuwan Aththanayake.
