CERTIFICATE AWARDING CEREMONY OF NO. 08 CHEMICAL BIOLOGICAL RADIOLOGICAL NUCLEAR EXPLOSIVE BASIC COURSE
The Certificate Awarding Ceremony of No. 08 Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosive Basic Course was held yesterday (25 March 2026) at No 49 CBRNE Wing SLAF Base Katunayake under the patronage of the Director General Ground Operations, Air Vice Marshal Ruwan Chandima as the Chief Guest.
The primary objective of this course was to equip specially selected servicemen with the knowledge, skills and confidence required to serve as first responders to potential Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive threats.
The No. 08 CBRNE Basic Course comprised with Two SL Navy Officers, Three SLAF Officers, Two Sailors and nine Airmen . At the ceremony, 16 awardees received certificates marking the successful completion of the course.
Flying Officers TAI Perera was recognized as the Best CBRNE First Responding Officer among the Officers for Outstanding Performance in the No. 08 CBRNE Basic Course. Similarly, Leading Mechanical Engineer Samarasiri DDD from SL Navy was awarded the title of Best CBRNE First Responder in recognition of skills and dedication.
