ELECTRONICS & TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING WING SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 68TH ANNIVERSARY
The Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Wing at SLAF Base Katunayake celebrated its 68th anniversary yesterday (01 April 2026), marking nearly seven decades of technical excellence and dedicated service since its inception on 01 April 1958.
In line with the anniversary celebrations, a community service project was conducted at the Chest Hospital, Welisara. Under the guidance of the Commanding Officer, Group Captain Upul Samaraweera, the project focused on the restoration of the ICU building and the hospital surroundings. The initiative involved cleaning, painting, and essential repairs to the facility, with the active participation of officers, along with more than 40 airmen and airwomen of the Wing.
The commemorative events continued today (02 April 2026) with the customary working parade held at the Wing premises. The parade was reviewed by the Commanding Officer. The celebrations concluded with activities promoting camaraderie among all ranks.
