SLAF Troops Fire Fights In Jacmel, Haiti

Sri Lanka Air Force troops which form part of the Sri Lankan contingent to the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) assisted in dousing a major fire which broke out in the main market in Jacmel during the early hours on 14th August 2011.

Jacmel town which is highly populated and lot of other buildings are situated close by.However, SLAF troops trained in fire fighting as part of their basic training reacted within a short period of time and were able to extinguish the fire and prevented it spreading further.  Sri Lanka Army troops, also part of Sri Lanka’s contingent to MINUSTAH, personnel of the local fire Brigade  and members of the local Police also assisted in dousing the flames.
