SLAF BEGINS ‘WINGS OVER KAPRUKA’
A special tree planting campaign “Wings over Kapruka” was officially initiated by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe yesterday (10 April 2026) with a planting of a coconut tree at SLAF Base Katunayake. The progrmme was conducted to plant coconut seedlings in four acres of land at Bandarawaththa SLAF Base Katunayake.
Under this program 75000 coconut and other plants will be distributed across all provinces of Sri Lanka in honour of 75 years of service of SLAF. It is expected to address the requirement of uplifting the productivity of coconut cultivation in the country and to encourage and aware SLAF community and community groups on tree planting initiatives . The programme is undertaken by the SLAF Agro Unit SLAF Base Katunayake under the supervision of the Commanding Officer, Group Captain Sampath Jayathillake and the plant distribution and awareness programmes will be arranged at SLAF Establishment level through out 2026
