The Awarding Ceremony for Certificates of Commendation was held today (06 May 2026) at Air Force Headquarters. The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, graced the occasion.

Certificates of Commendation were presented to officers and airmen in recognition of their outstanding contributions. Notably, the recipients were those who played a pivotal role in shouldering the responsibilities for the successful execution and completion of the Colombo Central Bus Terminal project.

Among those recognized was Director General Ground Operations, Air Vice Marshal Vajira Senadeera, who was also awarded a Certificate of Commendation for his contributions during his tenure as Director General Construction Engineering, during which he provided leadership for the successful completion of the project.

The event was attended by Director General Logistics, Air Vice Marshal Gladwin Athapaththu, Director General Construction Engineering, Air Commodore Krishantha Hewapathirana and other senior officers.
