CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY WING AT SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 13TH ANNIVERSARY
Construction Machinery Wing at SLAF Base Katunayake celebrated its 13th Anniversary today (15 May 2026). The day’s proceedings began with the customary working parade, which was attended by Officers and Airmen of the Wing and reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander UMSB Ariyarathna.
To commemorate the occasion, a tree planting programme was carried out within the Wing premises, followed by a team building sports event to strength unity and camaraderie among the personnel. As part of the anniversary celebration, a community service project was also carried out at the Katana Anandapura Orphanage. During the programme, a cleaning campaign has been conducted and lunch has been provided for nearly 50 personnel.
At present, the Construction Machinery Wing comprises six Officers specialized in Mechanical Engineering and 142 Airmen trained across multiple disciplines. The Wing’s primary responsibility is to provide heavy machinery and dump trucks in support of construction projects undertaken by the SLAF and the wider State Sector, as directed by Air Force Headquarters.
