RELOCATED “EAGLES’ PERCH DRIFTWOOD CABANA” DECLARED OPEN AT SLAF BASE VAVUNIYA

SLAF Base Vavuniya declared open its newly relocated Officers’ holiday facility, “Eagles’ Perch Driftwood Cabana,” during a ceremony held today (23 May 2026). The opening was officiated by the Base Commander of SLAF Base Vavuniya, Group Captain Chandana Ratnayake.

The cabana was relocated from SLAF Station Vanni following the announcement of the station’s closure and reconstructed in a serene environment within SLAF Base Vavuniya. This initiative was undertaken with the objective of enhancing the welfare, leisure, and recreational facilities available for SLAF personnel.

Strategically situated adjacent to the Officers’ Mess and overlooking a scenic lake, the “Eagles’ Perch Driftwood Cabana” comprises two air-conditioned bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a timber loft, an open veranda and dining facilities.

The relocation and redesign of the facility were successfully carried out by the Civil Engineering Staff of SLAF Base Vavuniya, who completed the project within a period of six months, demonstrating commendable dedication, technical expertise, and craftsmanship.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by officers and members of the construction team, marking a valuable addition to the amenities of SLAF Base Vavuniya.
