COMMANDER ATTENDS THE 14TH DEFENCE SERVICES GAMES INAUGURAL CONFERENCE
Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, attended the Inaugural Conference of the 14th Defence Services Games, held today (19 June 2026) at Navy Headquarters.
The conference focused on the planning and conduct of the Defence Services Games for the years 2026 and 2027. Discussions centred on enhancing the standard of military sports, strengthening inter-service sporting relations, and ensuring the successful organization of future Defence Services competitions.
The meeting also deliberated on the participation of Sri Lankan military athletes in upcoming World Military Games and other international military sporting events during the same period. In addition, several policy matters relating to the Defence Services Games were discussed, including the review and possible rationalization of certain sports disciplines in line with operational priorities, resource availability and athlete participation.
The event was also attended by the Secretary of the Air Force Sports Council, Group Captain Eranda Geeganage, along with other SLAF officers and senior officers representing the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy.
