Grooming Workshop For Gentlemen

A grooming workshop for the officers (men) of the SLAF was organized on 23rd August 2011 at the AFHQ auditorium under the patronage of the chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit.
A four-hour workshop was steered by Mrs. Nayana Karunarathne, Directress of Image Academy of "Personality Development", "Hair and Beauty" and the owner of the leading chain of salons “Salon Nayana”.
The objective of the workshop was to enrich the personality of an Air Force Officer and timely topics of the session included professional image of a gentlemen officer, tips on looking after health, and fine tuning the aspects of good health and personal hygiene for physical and mental energy. The participation of the officers was encouraging as was the and their frequent interaction was evidence of their enthusiasm.
Mrs. Nayana Karunarathne being a versatile person in her field was able to enrich the participants with her own experiences and delivered valuable tips useful in the role of a gentleman officer.
The Commander of the Air force was present for the session as the guest of honour. The Air force board of Directors and senior officers of the rank of Squadron Leader and above also were present for the workshop and over hundred officers representing AFHQ, SLAF Station Colombo, SLAF Bases Katunayake and Ratmalana and SLAF station Ekala were among the participants.
Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrama, Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit was present for the session representing the Seva Vanitha unit and Mrs. Chamani Pathirage, the Secretary of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit introduced Mrs. Nayana Karunarathne to the audience and guided the program through the proceedings adding glamour with her vocal talent. The Assistant Secretary SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Squadron Leader Nadeera Thanthrige delivered the vote of thanks.
