COMMISSIONING OF THE NO. 78 AND NO. 80 B DIRECT ENTRY STUDENT OFFICERS' COURSES AT SLAF COMBAT TRAINING SCHOOL DIYATALAWA
A significant event took place at the SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa as the Student Officers of No.78 and No.80 B Direct Entry Courses were Commissioned today (26 June 2026). Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Gihan Senevirathne graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Seven Student Officers were successfully commissioned from this prestigious institution after an intensive forty days programme encompassing both Combat and Administrative training. The course's primary focus was to transform civilians into disciplined and proficient servicemen, achieved through two main modules, Basic Ground Combat and Basic Administration. These modules covered essential skills such as Drill, Field Craft, Land Navigation, Tactics, Weapon Training, Human Rights, Air Force Administration, First Aid, Command and Leadership, Officers’ General Responsibilities and General Administration of the SLAF.
The course was conducted under the guidance of the Commanding Officer of SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa, Group Captain Lalith Sugathadasa and the Officer Commanding Training, Group Captain Wasantha Lakshman. The ceremony was organized and conducted by the Chief Instructor of Cadet Training, Squadron Leader Manula Polgampola.
