FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT AT KONAKUMBUKWEWA MAHA VIDYALAYA - ANURADHAPURA

In parallel with the 75th Anniversary of the SLAF and under the guidance of the Commander of the Air Force and the Chief of Staff, the foundation stone for a renovation and construction project at Konakumbukwewa Maha Vidyalaya - Anuradhapura, was laid today (26 June 2026), marking the commencement of the project. The initiative is being implemented by SLAF Base Vavuniya.

The project includes the construction of a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification facility, an 80' x 20' classroom hall, a computer laboratory, and separate ablution blocks for teachers and male and female students. In addition, renovation work will be carried out on the school canteen, classrooms, the main hall, Senanayake Hall, the War Hero Building, the playground, the outdoor stage, the entrance road and the main gate.

The project is sponsored by the KPMG Sri Lanka Alumni Association, while construction work will be carried out by the Directorate of Civil Engineering of the SLSF. The project is being coordinated and supervised by the Base Commander of SLAF Base Vavuniya, Group Captain Chandana Ratnayake.

The initiative is intended to improve the school's infrastructure and provide better facilities for students and staff
