SLAF ASSISTS TO DOUSE THE FOREST FIRE
In response to a request from the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) in Badulla, the Disaster Assistance and Response Team (DART), from the SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa, comprising one officer and 20 airmen, successfully controlled a large-scale forest fire in the Ella, Kubalwela and Dowa forest area on both 04 and 05 July 2026.
Upon receiving the information in the late evening, under the guidance of the Commanding Officer of SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa, Group Captain Lalith Sugathadasa, the team swiftly proceeded to the specified locations and effectively controlled the fire and minimized damages to the forest reserve.
