COMMANDER'S INSPECTION OF SLAF STATION MORAWEWA
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, conducted the Commander's Inspection of SLAF Station Morawewa today (05 July 2026). Upon his arrival, the Commander was received by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Morawewa, Group Captain Nilendra Perera. During the course of the inspection, the Commander visited the Station Headquarters, Main Guard Room, No. 44 Regiment Special Forces Wing, WOs' & SNCOs' Mess, Officers' Mess, Armoury, No. 34 Regiment Wing, MT Section, Fire Section, Hospital, JNCOs' Social Club, Tusker Billet, Airmen's Social Club, Rice Mill and Stores, Welfare Complex and Airmen Mess.
The Commander awarded a Certificate of Commendation to Corporal Jayasundara BN (Electrical Technician III) in recognition of his outstanding performance and contribution made to the SLAF Station Morawewa and Sri Lanka Air Force in general. Addressing all personnel of the Station at the conclusion of the inspection, the Commander expressed his appreciation for their hard work in maintaining the Station up to the required standards. During his address, the Commander emphasized the pivotal role this Station has played in training highly capable special forces personnel and contributing agricultural products to the SLAF. Furthermore, the Commander outlined the necessity of advancing the technological capabilities of the SLAF to enhance the operational effectiveness and proficiency of SLAF service members.
