CERTIFICATE AND BADGE AWARDING CEREMONY OF NO. 06 CBRNE ADVANCED COURSE
The Certificate and Badge Awarding Ceremony of No. 06 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Advanced Course was held today (07 July 2026) at No. 49 CBRNE Wing SLAF Base Katunayake under the patronage of the Base Commander SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Vice Marshal Amitha Jayamaha as the Chief Guest.
The primary objective of this course was to equip specially selected servicemen with the knowledge, skills and confidence required to serve as first responders to potential Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive threats.
As part of the comprehensive training programme, a specialized module on the fundamentals of household insects and pest control was conducted by the Faculty of Agriculture University of Peradeniya. The module provided participants with essential knowledge on the identification, biology and effective control of common household pests, thereby enhancing their understanding of public health protection and environmental safety in support of CBRNE preparedness and response.
The No. 06 CBRNE Advanced Course comprised six Officers, 14 Airmen and three Airwomen. At the ceremony, all 23 participants received Certificates and CBRNE First Responder Badges, marking the successful completion of the course.
Squadron Leader Pramod Abeysiri was recognized as the Best CBRNE First Responding Officer among the Officers for his outstanding performance in the No. 06 CBRNE Advanced Course. Similarly, Leading Aircraftwoman Hansamali WAY was awarded the title of Best CBRNE First Responding Airman/Airwoman in recognition of her exceptional skills, commitment and dedication demonstrated throughout the course.
