SLAF INTERNAL AFFAIRS UNIT INAUGURATES INTEGRITY WEEK
In line with the national initiative, "A Culture of Integrity – A Clean Sri Lanka," the Sri Lanka Air Force Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) inaugurated Integrity Week today (27 July 2026) at Air Force Headquarters.
The event was held under the patronage of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, and was attended by members of the Air Force Board of Management led by the Chief of Staff, together with Internal Affairs Unit personnel at Air Force Headquarters. Representatives from the SLAF Academy, Bases and Stations joined the programme virtually via Zoom.
Delivering the welcome address, the Head of the Internal Affairs Unit, Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva, spoke on the significance of Integrity Week and highlighted the importance of fostering transparency, accountability and ethical conduct throughout the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The programme included the recitation of the Integrity Oath, through which participants pledged to uphold the principles of integrity, professionalism and public service.
Addressing the gathering, the Commander of the Air Force stated that integrity is a fundamental requirement in building a strong and professional Air Force. He said that integrity plays an important role in maintaining high standards of professionalism and organizational effectiveness, while also shaping the character, values and conduct of every member of the Service. He further stated that integrity should be reflected not only in the performance of official duties but also in the daily lives of Air Force personnel.
The Integrity Officer, Air Commodore Uditha Piyasena, delivered a presentation on the role and functions of the Internal Affairs Unit. He also outlined the objectives of Integrity Week and explained its role in strengthening accountability, transparency and good governance within the Service.
The inauguration was followed by the Quarterly Internal Affairs Unit Conference, during which representatives from SLAF establishments reviewed ongoing integrity-related activities, exchanged views and discussed measures to further strengthen integrity, transparency and good governance across the organization.
Integrity Week will continue with a series of awareness programmes and related activities to enhance ethical standards, accountability and integrity throughout the Sri Lanka Air Force.
