AVIATION FUEL HANDLING AND QUALITY MAINTENANCE TRAINING PROGRAMME CONCLUDES AT SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE

A specialized Basic Training Programme on Aviation Fuel Handling and Quality Maintenance for Logistics Officers, Officer Cadets, Aviation Fuel Quality Controllers and Logistics Assistant Advanced Trainees, was conducted on FOC basis from 18 to 21 August 2026 at the Logistics School, EP&AU, SLAF Base Katunayake. The programme was organized under the guidance of the Directorate of Logistics and Directorate of Training, with the support of the Equipment Provisioning and Accounting Unit (EPAU), SLAF Base Katunayake. The training was conducted by Mr. M. A. Asun M. Appuhamy, Acting Superintendent (Aviation Training) and Aviation Superintendent (GC & M), Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Aviation Refueling Terminal, Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake.

The four-day programme covered essential aspects of aviation fuel operations, including fuel handling, quality control, storage practices, safety precautions, contamination prevention, sampling procedures, equipment maintenance and related operational procedures. The training also provided participants with valuable practical knowledge and industry-based insights into maintaining rigorous safety and quality standards. The programme is expected to contribute towards enhancing operational efficiency, safety, quality assurance and professional competency in aviation fuel-related operations within the Sri Lanka Air Force.
