'ATLAS ANGEL' EXERCISE CONCLUDES ON A HIGH NOTE
The joint training exercise Atlas Angel - II 2026 conducted by the Sri Lanka Air Force, the Pacific Air Force and the United States Montana National Guard concluded successfully.
The closing ceremony of the joint training exercise 'Atlas Angel - II 2026' conducted by the Sri Lanka Air Force, the United States Montana National Guard and the Pacific Air Force in coordination with the United States Embassy was held at the Katunayake Air Force Base (September 04, 2026) under the patronage of the United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr. Eric Meyer and Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe graced this occasion.
The training exercises focused on the exchange of experience and technical knowledge on how to conduct air operations during natural and man-made disasters, and on emergency rescue operations, and focused on measures to improve bilateral cooperation and preparedness.
General Duties Pilots, Flight Engineers, Medical Officers and Loadmasters from the Sri Lanka Air Force, Pacific Air Force and Montana National Guard participated in this training exercise, and this program was a great help in gaining experience and understanding of advanced disaster management techniques.
The closing ceremony of the 'Atlas Angel-II 2026' training exercise, which was held for 05 days from 31st August to 04th September in Kandy, Digana, Colombo and Katunayake, was also attended by the Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera, the members of the Air Force Board of Management , Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake Air Vice Marshal Amith Jayamaha, members of the Montana National Guard, Sri Lanka Air Force Officers and other ranks.
