The Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, conducted the Commander’s Inspection of SLAF Station Palavi on 05 September 2026. Upon his arrival, the Commanding Officer of the Station, Group Captain Ananda Kumarasiri, formally welcomed the Commander.

During the Guard of Honour, the Commander awarded Certificates of Commendation to the following personnel in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the Station and the Air Force:

Flight Sergeant Sumithrarathna CPSH – Ops Grd (SP)
Flight Sergeant Rajakaruna RHMD – Surface Asst (I)
Sergeant Wijerathna RBSR – Ops Grd (I)
Sergeant Neththikumara NKDS – Ops Grd (I)
Corporal Ramanayake HMSN – Ops Grd (III)

Further, the Commander visited and inspected the No. 38 Regiment Wing, EODTS, No. 5 ADRS and the Surface Treatment Plant (STP). The STP has been established to support the electroplating processes required for the overhaul of aircraft components at the Aircraft Overhaul Wing, SLAF Base Katunayake. He also inspected all sections of the Station.

In conclusion, the Commander commended the Commanding Officer of SLAF station Palavi and the personnel under his command for their diligent efforts in preparing the Station to meet the high standards expected during a Commander’s Inspection. He also addressed all personnel, including civilian staff, and acknowledged their hard work and dedication.
