The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, conducted the Commander’s Inspection at SLAF Station Bandaranaike International Airport today (05 September 2026).

Upon his arrival, the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Bandaranaike International Airport Air Commodore GSN Priyadarshana, warmly welcomed the Commander and accorded him a ceremonial street line.

During the inspection, Certificates of Commendation were awarded to the following service personnel in recognition of their meritorious contributions to the Station in particular and the Sri Lanka Air Force in general:

Sergeant Weerasinghe GAL – Motor Transport Mechanic III
Leading Aircraftman Jayawardana DMKP – Operations Ground III

The Commander inspected the operational and administrative areas of the Station and reviewed the overall standards maintained at the establishment.

Addressing the Officers, Airmen, Airwomen and civilian staff, the Commander highlighted the vital role played by SLAF Station Bandaranaike International Airport in supporting the operational requirements of the Sri Lanka Air Force. He also appreciated the Commanding Officer and all personnel under his command for their dedication, commitment and continued efforts in maintaining the Station to the expected standards.
