AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE COLLEGE DELEGATION VISITS AIR FORCE MUSEUM AT SRI LANKA AIR FORCE BASE RATHMALANA

A delegation from the Australian Defence College (ADC) visited the Air Force Museum at Sri Lanka Air Force Base Ratmalana on 09 September 2026, as part of their field application and research visit to Sri Lanka. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Base Commander, Sri Lanka Air Force Base Ratmalana, Air Vice Marshal Dinesh Jayaweera.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the history of Ratmalana Air Force Base and its significant contribution to the development of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) since its establishment. The briefing provided an overview of the evolution of the SLAF, its key operational milestones, and the importance of preserving Sri Lanka’s rich aviation heritage.

The delegation subsequently toured the Air Force Museum, where they viewed a collection of historic aircraft, aviation exhibits and memorabilia showcasing the evolution, achievements and operational heritage of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The visit provided a valuable platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, while further strengthening mutual understanding, professional engagement and the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between Sri Lanka and Australia.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
