COMMANDER’S INSPECTION AT SLAF TRADE TRAINING SCHOOL EKALA

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, conducted the Commander’s inspection at SLAF Trade Training School, Ekala, today (09 October 2026). 

Upon arrival, the Commander was warmly received by the Air Commodore Kolitha Abeysinghe, the Commanding Officer SLAF TTS Ekala and concurrently the Director of Trade Training of SLAF, and accorded a ceremonial Street Lining. During the inspection, Certificates of Commendation were awarded to following service personnel in recognition of their outstanding performance and contribution made to the Sri Lanka Air Force in general.

The Commander visited various sections and facilities of the Trade Training School Ekala, including the School Headquarters, No. 40 Regiment Wing (Defence Briefing), Welfare Complex, Printing and Production Squadron, Trade Training Wing, Signal Section, Armoury, Language Training Centre, Motor Transport (MT) Section, Main Guard Room, No. 2 Initial Technical Wing (ITW), Hospital Complex, Equipment Section, Chief Recruiting Office, and the changing room complex of the Hockey and Soccer Grounds. He also visited the Printing and Production Squadron, Airmen and Airwomen Social Club, Junior Non-Commissioned Officers’ (JNCOs’) Social Club, Airmen and Airwomen Mess, and Warrant Officers’ and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers’ (WOs’ and SNCOs’) Mess. During the visit, the Commander attended briefings by trainees at the Model Hangar and participated in a tree-planting programme. 

He subsequently addressed all ranks, including trainees and civilian personnel, emphasising the pivotal role played by Trade Training School Ekala in moulding professionally competent tradesmen and women for the future of the Sri Lanka Air Force, while highlighting the historical significance of the School. 

The Commander commended the Commanding Officer and his team for their dedicated efforts in preparing the School to meet the standards expected by the Air Force. The visit concluded with lunch at the Airmen and Airwomen Mess and the signing of the Visitors’ Book at the Officers’ Mess.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
