His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa graced a ‘Pirith Pinkama’ which was held at ‘Air House’, the official residence of the Commander of the Air Force, on 1st October 2011. This ‘Pinkama’ which was held to bestow blessings in keeping with the traditional housewarming customs, was followed by a Heel Daana for 25 Bhikkhus in the morning on the 2nd. It was the first time in history that an all-night Pirith Pinkama has been organized in these historical premises.

The other distinguished invitees present at the Pirith Pinkama included, MP Sajin Vass Gunawardena, Secretary to HE the President Mr. Lalith Weeratunga, Chief of Staff to HE the President Mr. Gamini Senerath, Commander of the Army Lt Gen and Mrs J Jayasooriya, Commander of the Navy Vice Adm and Mrs DWAS Dissanayake, Inspector General of Police Mr. NK Illangakoon and Mrs. Shenuka Seneviratne. Members of the Air Force Board of Directors and their ladies too were among those invitees present.
