Annual Commander's Inspection at SLAF Station, Colombo - 2011

The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama conducted the Annual Commander’s Inspection at the Sri Lanka Air Force Station Colombo and at the Air Force Headquarters today (14th October 2011).
The Commander was welcomed by the Commanding Officer SLAF Colombo, Air Commodore Vijitha Gunarathne and a Guard of Honour was accorded at the Headquarters by Flight Lieutenant Sampath Priyalal Despite the shower of rain the parade continued where 4 officers, 1 Master Warrant Officer , 4 Warrant Officers, 20 SNCOs 10 JNCOs and 4 airmen and airwomen and 3 civilians received commendations from the Commander.
During the course of the inspection the Commander opened the office of the commercial arm of the Air Force ‘Helitours’ which was shifted from its previous location at Kollupitiya to premises at SLAF Station Colombo. On the occasion Mrs. TIDM Abeysekara bought a ticket to United States from the International Ticketing Counter and Mrs. Deborah Sebastian bought a local ticket to Jaffna.
Further during the course of the inspection, the Commander inspected the capabilities of AERMS (Aeronautical Engineering Resource Management System) and opened a Microwave building at SLAF Colombo and a Veterinary Clinic at SLAF Guwanpura which will provide treatment to pets not only within the organization but to those belonging to outsiders as well.
On conclusion of the inspection at Air Force Headquarters, before departing for SLAF Guwanpura the Commander addressed the officers and men. During the address he stated that he was aware of the amount of work which went into preparing for inspection and thanked all for their efforts. He also highlighted the importance of the development carried out in the station and described the value of implementing more new projects. He further emphasised that all members of the SLAF should maintain the highest standards both inside and outside the SLAF. He also stated that the SLAF reputation which has been built up through the generations should be maintained and that the high level of discipline should continue.
