Proving they were the masters of the game, SLAF Unit Colombo emerged as the winners of the Air Force Inter Unit Squash Championship which was worked off at the Squash Courts Complex at SLAF Base Ratmalana recently.

Thrashing the contending finalists from Tech Formation SLAF Base Katunayake, the five member team from Colombo performed exceptionally well to clinch the winning title.

President of Sri Lanka Squash Federation, Commodore Palitha Weerasinghe graced the occasion as the Chief Guest whilst the Base Commander of Air Force Base Ratmalana, Air Commodore Sumangala Dias, also witnessed the finals.

The Champion Colombo team consisted of Air Vice Marshal Asoka Amunugama, Air Commodore Ajith Abeyasekara, Wing Commander Jaliya Jayasekara, Squadron Leader TMR Wanigasekara, Flight Sergeant Thushara IDN and Flight Sergeant Perera.

The Open tournament was conducted under six categories such as Men’s Novices, Women’s Novices, Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Intermediate Men’s Open (over35) and Veteran Men’s Open (over45). The results of the open tournament are as follows.
