Skipper at the SLAF men’s Volleyball team Cpl Taraka Abeykoon brought great honour to SLAF by selecting to lead the Sri Lanka Senior  men’s team at the 15 Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Tournament which is being held in Philippine from 26 Sep to 05 Oct 2009.

Cpl Abeykoon one of the best quick attackers of the game had previously toured India, Qutar, Vietnam, Indonesia and Pakistan with the National team.  Further, he was a member of the Sri Lanka team which won the silver medal at the last SAF Games held in Sri Lanka, in 2006.

He is the third player from the present SLAF team to lead the National team along with Cpl Nalin Sampath Abeysinghe and Cpl Saman Chandranath.
