The Observance of the World Quality Day is an annual public awareness campaign, promulgated by the United Nations in 1990 to raise international awareness of the important role ‘Quality’ plays in ensuring a nations' prosperity; now celebrated annually on the Second Thursday of November.

The SLAF actively participated in this programme with the fullest co-operation of all Base Commanders and COs of SLAF establishments. The SLAF has moderated the official slogan for this year’s World Quality Day as “Our responsibilities in Pursuit of Excellence”. The purpose of this exercise was to inculcate the message of quality among all concerned thus enhancing the quality culture in the SLAF.

A Quality awareness programme was carried out at every Base/Group/Station/Unit/Formation and outside organizations during the aforesaid period. The subjects covered in the programme are as follows;

a.    Our responsibilities in Pursuit of Excellence.
b.    Team Work to achieve Quality and Productivity.
c.    5 ‘S’ House Keeping Practices.
d.    Prevention of Wastes (7 Wastes).
e.    PDCA Cycle (Deming Wheel).
