A special ceremony to hand over appointment letters to 160 newly recruited civilian employees to fill vacancies in the Civil Administrative Service of the Sri Lanka Air Force was held today (02 September 2026) at Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters.

The appointment letters were presented under the patronage of the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara, who attended the occasion at the invitation of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe.

The recruitment process, conducted with the approval of the Ministry of Defence, was carried out through a transparent and fair selection procedure, ensuring representation from all regions of the island and across all communities.

During the occasion, emphasis was placed on the vital contribution made by the civilian workforce towards the successful fulfilment of the Sri Lanka Air Force's extensive responsibilities in safeguarding the sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security of the country.

It was further highlighted that civilian employees play a vital role in ensuring the efficient functioning of Air Force operational and administrative activities, thereby directly contributing to the overall effectiveness and operational capability of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

The newly appointed employees are scheduled to be posted to various Sri Lanka Air Force establishments and bases across the island, where they will contribute to administrative and other essential support services.

The occasion was attended by the Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, the Director of Civil Administration of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Attorney-at-Law H. H. N. Priyangani Hewarathna, members of the Sri Lanka Air Force Board of Management, and other Officers of Sri Lanka Air Force Head Quarters.

The appointment of these 160 new civilian employees marks an important step towards further strengthening and expanding the Sri Lanka Air Force's civilian administrative structure, while opening a new chapter in public service for the newly appointed employees.
