SLAF Base Katunayake Ground Defence Section team emerged champs in the Inter Unit Soccer Tournament on 30th March 2012 at SLAF Base Katunayake.

In the finals SLAF Base Katunayake Ground Defence Section team beat the SLAF  TTS Ekala team by 3-1 Goal. Sri Lanka Foot Ball Federation Deputy Chief executive Officer Mr Anura de Silva and Base Commander SLAF Base Katunayake Air  Commodore  CR Gurusingha, Chairman SLAF Soccer Team  Air Vice Marshal PDJ Kumarasiri graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
