Air Liaison Officers Training Programme at United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti

The ‘Air Liaison Officer’
Training program was conducted for Sri Lankan Armed Forces Officers and
Senior Non Commissioned Officers who are performing peace keeping duties
in the republic of Haiti.
This was initiated by the Chief Aviation Officer Mr Hiran Ferrera and Deputy Chief Aviation Officer Lieutenant Colonel Alberto Raul Gadea at the Aviation Section of the United Nations Stabilization mission in Haiti. The training was conducted from 30th May 2012 to 31st May 2012 at the United Nations Logistic Base at Port au Prince, Haiti.
The training programme included Weather reporting , Helicopter landing site selection and site security, Night Operations, Casualty evacuating operations, Communication procedures, Fire Fighting, Emergency response plan and procedures of United Nations Aircraft with a few practical sessions.
Wing Commander Sulochana Marapperuma the Officer Commanding SLAF contingent in Haiti coordinated the course and five Air Force SNCOs , Officers and SNCOs from other sister services participated in the course.
