The passing out ceremony of the No. 50th Non Commissioned Officers’ Management Course was held at the Non Commissioned Officers’ Management School auditorium at the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay on 1st June 2012. Air Marshal HD Abeywickrama, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Air Vice Marshal K Yahampath the Director of Training, Air Commodore LHA Silva the  Director of General Engineering, Air Commodore JSI Wijemanne the Director of Administration, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Bandula Wijewardana and Air Commodore SK Pathirana the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay witnessed the event as the honorary guests.   

The prime intention of providing this course is to transform a sound Academic and management knowledge while sharpening leadership qualities within the Non Commissioned Officers of the SLAF. The course runs through a well formed syllabus over a period of 12 weeks. The course participants are also taken on an organized study tour to number of selected outside organizations in order to expose them to the various management practices and the means by which different organizations meet them. Physical fitness is also an important part of the curriculum and a regular program of physical training and organized games is included to ensure not only that the course participants maintain their fitness while they participate in the course but also to encourage them to make it a routine part of their lives.

The comprehensive course which is accredited to the University of Rajarata and all Non Commissioned Officers who fulfil the required criteria will be awarded with a Certificate in Management. The batch comprised of 45 Senior Non Commissioned Officers and 41 Junior Non Commissioned Officers. Also 02 Army Senior Non Commissioned Officers and 02 Naval Petty Officers followed and graduated from this course successfully.

The Commanding Officer of Non Commissioned Officers’ Management School is Group Captain CJ Batagoda. The academic staff of the school comprises with Wing Commander KRS Hemantha (Chief Instructor), Squadron Leader CT Weeratunga (Senior Instructor), Squadron Leader RAC Ranasinghe (Directing Staff) and Squadron Leader IN Egodawatta (English Language Instructor)

14969 Flight Sergeant Withana WAC (Aero Engine Fitter Special) was placed as the best all-round Senior Non Commissioned Officer category while 25114 Corporal Hewapathirana WHAI (Account Clerk Specialist I) was placed as the best all-round Junior Non Commissioned Officer category.
