The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, conducted the AOCs Inspection of SLAF Base Anuradhapura on the 2nd July 2012.A parade commanded by Base Commander, SLAF Base Anuradhapura, Group Captain Shehan Fernando welcomed the Commander to the Base premises whilst Wing Commander PB Liyanage, Wing Commander MASK Maheepala and Squadron leader SDPMK Siyambalapitiya commanded the three flights respectively.

Covering all areas of the Base, the Commander inspected Base HQ, Main Guard room, MT section, Equipment section, Hospital, Stone Quarry, WOs' and Sergeant Mess, Officers Mess and the three lodger formation located within the  Base; No. 06 Helicopter Squadron commanded by Wing Commander MASK Maheepala , No. 33 Air Defence Wing commanded by Squadron Leader Mahesh Siyambalapitiya and No. 21 Regiment Wing commanded by Wing Commander GSN Priyadarshana. 

During the Inspection Commander also visited to the new Golf Course which being developed and gave his blessing to the expansion of the golf course to a fully fledge one. The Commander took a seat at the Airmen Mess with the officers, men and women for the customary all ranks lunch which followed by a address by the Commander to all Officers, men and women of the Base praising the commendable job they had done and encouraged them to set and reach even higher goals.
