The Inaugural ceremony of the 5th KDU symposium was held at the auditorium of the Kothalawala  Defence University at Ratmalana today (22nd  August 2012). The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence & Urban Development,  Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa RWP,  graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Chief of Defence Staff Air Chief Marshal Roshan Gunathilaka , Commanders of the three forces ,Vice Chancellor of the Kothalawala  Defence University and Seniors Officers of the three forces were also present at the Inaugural ceremony.

The theme of this year's symposium is “Ensuring National Security through Reconciliation and Sustainable Development".
