Ward No. 3 of Mulleriyawa Mental Hospital Receives a Facelift

The Sri Lanka Air Force conducted a refurbishment programme at Ward No. 3 of the Mulleriyawa Mental Hospital last morning (9th October 2013). This female Ward has been maintained by the SLAF since 1985 with the SLAF’s Seva Vanitha Unit complementing the maintenance effort by launching various donation and entertainment activities periodically for the welfare of the inmates of the Ward.
Under this latest refurbishment programme, the roof, walls, floor, ablution annexes and the surroundings of the Ward received a facelift while the facilities for inmates were improved with the donation of mattresses and beddings, hygienic supplies, garments, beddings and food items valued at nearly a quarter of a million rupees.
The items donated were contributed by the Seva Vanitha Units of the SLAF and by the Directorate of Welfare. The Director Welfare Air Vice Marshal MLK Perera visited the Ward on 9 October 2013 accompanied by members of the SVU and personnel of the Directorate of Welfare to formally present the donations to the hospital management and to the inmates who were also treated with a lunch.
The Chief Matron of the hospital, Mrs. Hema Balasuriya, accepted the donations on behalf of the Hospital and the medical staff were also attended the event.
