SLAF Inter Unit Power Lifting Championship - 2013

SLAF Station Colombo secured Men’s (20 points) and SLAF TTS Ekala secured Women’s (23 points) Championships at the Inter Unit Power Lifting Championship which was concluded last evening (24st October 2013) at SLAF TTS Ekala.
SLAF Base Katunayake (13 points) and SLAF Academy China Bay (11 points) became the runners up in men and women categories respectively.
67 male and 27 female competitors took part under 8 and 7 weight classes respectively. Leading Aircraftman Jayasinghe JAND of SLAF Station Colombo and Leading Aircraftwoman Rajapaksha RDGH of SLAF Academy China Bay were adjudged as the best Power Lifters in their category.
Two new SLAF records were established separately in the Weight classes of 59Kg, 52 Kg and 72Kg by Leading Aircraftman Jayasinghe JAND, Leading Aircraftwoman Rathnayake EMDH and Leading Aircraftwoman Wimalasena MH respectively whilst Leading Aircraftman Ranasinghe RASM was established a new SLAF record in the Weight class of 74 Kg. Corporal Lakmal UKLII of Command Media Unit also secured the silver medal in the Weight class of 105Kg representing SLAF Station Colombo.
Director Welfare Air Vice Marshal MLK Perera graced the occasion as the Chief Guest whilst the National Coach of Sri Lanka Weight Lifting Mr. Athula Wijewickrema, the Chairman of the Air Force Weight Lifting Air Vice Marshal LHA Silva, the Secretary of the Air Force Weight Lifting and Commanding Officer SLAF TTS Ekala Group Captain Ranasinghe, Officers and Airmen were also participated at the event.
