14th Stage of 'Api Wenuwen Api' Housing Project
HE the President Mahinda Rajapaksa handed over the keys of 112 houses built in the Colombo District under the 14th stage of the “Api Wenuwen Api housing project for war heroes” this morning (18th November2013). The Ceremony was held concurrent the 68 Birthday Celebration of the HE the President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Pitipana Maha Vidyalaya Homagama.
The housing project was constructed under the guidance of the Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Chairperson of the Defence Ministry's Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Ayoma Rajapaksa.
HE the President Mahinda Rajapaksa presented the keys to 112 Ranaviru families (Army 69, Navy 26 and Air Force 17). Subsequent to the handing over of the houses, 50 school children of the Grade Six of Pitipana Maha Vidyalaya were presented school bags, shoes by the President himself.
The secretary of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Chairperson of the Defence Ministry's Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Ayoma Rajapaksa, Members of Parliament, Chief Minister of the Western Province Hon. Prasanna Ranathunga, Chief of Defence Staff General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Rathnayake, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage, Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, Senior officers of the Armed forces and Police together with a large gathering of parents and residents of the area also attended the event.
