24th Formation Day Celebrated at SLAF Station Ampara

An eventful day of community services and religious activities marked the celebration of the 24th Anniversary of Sri Lanka Air Force Station Ampara under the guidance of the Commanding Officer Group Captain C Wickramaratne together with all officers, other ranks and the civilian staff on 25th November 2013.
Coinciding with the Formation day celebrations a Shramadana Campaign was conducted at Himidurawe Temple with the participation of service personnel and the civil staff of the Station. This was followed by a special religious ceremony along with “Katina Pooja” (Rain Retreat) to bless the station.
The Formation day celebrations began with a parade which was reviewed by the Commanding Officer on 26 November 2013. A special tree planting programme at Parachute Training School premises was held to improve environment of the Station. In addition, the Station personnel arranged a blood donation campaign as a part of the Anniversary celebrations at the Regimental Training Centre in collaboration with the District Hospital Ampara on 20th November 2013. During the campaign more than hundred personnel donated blood voluntarily.
