No1 ADRS and No2 ADRS celebrate their 8th Anniversary

The No. 1 Air Defence Radar Squadron at SLAF Base Katunayeka and No. 2 Air Defence Radar Squadron at SLAF Base Vavuniya celebrated their 8th Anniversary on 10th March 2014 at their respective Bases.
The commemorative activities held in view of the anniversaries of both Air Defence Radar Squadrons took the form of social responsibility with Shamadhana campaigns.
No 1 ADRS spent the evening of the 6th March at the Sri Lakshmi Children’s home at Walana, Katunayake where the squadron offered the children dinner, gifts and entertainment much to their delight. The event was organized under the patronage of the Commanding Officer Squadron Leader ECA Jayasundara where all officers and other ranks participated. After the Formation day working parade on 10th March and an all-ranks lunch, squadron personnel participated in a friendly cricket match and a Tug of War competition. The Base Commander, SLAF Base Katunayake Air Cdre SK Pathirana graced the occasion as the chief guest.
No 2 ADRS, engaged in a Shramadana campaign followed by a “Bodhi Pooja” on 8th March 2013 at the “Sri Bodhi Dakshinaramaya”, Vavuniya. The Formation Day working parade was reviewed by the Commanding Officer Wg Cdr GSR Gunwardana. This was followed by a Six-a-side soft ball cricket tournament held between the squadron personnel at the Pre School play ground, with the Base Commander of SLAF Base Vavuniya Gp Capt DK Wanigasooriya gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.
