Airwing School Cadets Annual Camp 2014

The passing out parade of the Air Wing School
Cadets was held on 13th March 2014 at the Combat Training School, Sri
Lanka Air Force, Diyatalawa. Major General HMHA Herath, the Director of
the National Cadet Corps, took the salute as the Chief Guest at this
occasion.
Phase one (01) of the Annual Assessment Camp was conducted from 05th to 14th March 2014 under the aegis of the Commanding Officer of the School, Group Captain WWPD Fernando.
For the first time in history an impressive parade was commanded by the Air Wing Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) 6AW 0258 Senaratne BACA representing Bandarawela Central College fascinating all those present at the Bentley Parade Grounds. The Parade proceedings which included a colourful Band display and a Drill Display, were organized by the Officer Commanding Training, Wing Commander GPNC Piyasena together with Officers and the Instructors of the School as per the directives given by the School Commanding Officer.
Seven hundred and fifty one (751) School Air Wing Cadets from thirty (30) schools took part in the competition for the fourth time from all corners of the island. The cadets were assessed through the Director’s Examination, Confidence Test, Squadron Drill, Firing, Billet Inspection, Field Craft, Physical Efficiency Test, Written Test and Presentation Skills.
The Commander of the Air Force Challenge Trophy for the first place was secured by Bandaranaike College Gampaha. Henegama Central College and Dudley Senanayake Central College emerged in the second and third places.
Major General HMHA Herath, the Director of the National Cadet Corps, gave away the awards for the winners. Senior Officers of the Army, Naval Officers together with the Principals of the schools graced the occasion.
