Paratroopers in action at SLAF Ampara

The passing out parade of 27th and 28thBasic
Airborne Courses, No 6 free fall course and No 5 Rigger course was held
at the Drop Zone, Sri Lanka Air Force Station, Ampara on 30th June 2014.
Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force Air Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke graced
the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Senior Officers of the Three
Services, were also among the distinguish guests. commanding officer of

Chaminda Wikramarathna,Commanding Officer of Parachute training
school Wing Commander Jagath Godakanda,the proud parents of
the trainees were also present to witness the
function.
The parade commenced with static line jumps of the trainees from an MI 17 Air Craft at 1000 feet. After that, Sky divers of the SLAF performed a magnificent show, exiting at 6000 height from the same Air Craft. The Chief instructor, Parachute Training School Sqn. Ldr. CS Piyasundara landed with the Air Force Flag.
A Drill display by the Air Force Colour Squadron added colour to the parade, as did the attractive display by the Air Force Band. The Chief Guest pinned on the Paratrooper Wings of the trainees passing out. Lady Flying Officer Piyumi Jayasundara and Flying Officer Nipuna Herath were adjudged the best para troopers of No27th and 28th Basic Airborne Courses respectively.
