Pre-School Opens In Diyathalawa Upgraded

A new building with modern facilities was declared open by the Commander of the Air Force Air Cheif Marshal Roshan Goonetileke this morning (16 January 2010) at the Diyathalawa Pre-school. The construction of this new modern building was initiated under patronage of the Commanding Officer of SLAF Diyatalawa Air Commodore Lal Perera and the Chairperson SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Nelun Goonetileke.
The Seva Vanitha Unit of Sri Lanka Air Force has undertaken to upgrade the Pre-Schools belonging to Sri Lanka Air Force, to high educational standards with the intention of giving every child an opportunity for equal and quality early childhood education, regardless of their financial/social status.
This includes enhancing phases of child-hood development with carefully planned text books and class room activities with internationally recognized curriculum taught in English, creating an environment that is conducive and supportive to effective learning with modern classroom facilities and carefully selected professional and devoted teaching staff, adding extracurricular activities such as swimming, art and craft, music and dancing, and speech and drama.
Sri Lanka Air Force Pre-schools situated all over the country caters not only the children of the serving personnel, but the children of the civil society in the neighborhoods as well. The Montessori at SLAF Diyathalawa was selected for the modernisation since a considerable number of children of the serving personnel are in attendance.
Further a function to hounor the War Heroes in the District of Badulla and Monaragala was also held at the venue.
Following the functions a New Year Fair organized by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit was also held as a welfare measure to the service and civil personnel in the area.
