Commencement of Training for the Third Batch of RSF/SABF Personnel on ‘Angampora’

Since the introduction of the traditional art
of ‘Angampora’ to the SLAF in mid 2012, two batches of RSF and SABF
personnel have undergone training to date.
Training for these personnel is designed by extracting techniques from ‘Angampora’ to enhance execution of their duties pertaining to VVIP/VIP security.
The third batch, consisting of 30 personnel from the RSF and 10 personnel from the SABF commenced their training at the Angampora Training Area at SLAF Base Rma on 18 March 2015 and will continue for six months. The sessions got underway with adherence to the customs of the art and in keeping with the cultural traditions of Sri Lanka.
These training sessions are carried out under the patronage of the Commander of the Air Force and the AFBM and assisted by the Base Cmdr SLAF Base Rma.
The ceremony was attended by the Chairman SLAF Angampora Air Cdre CB Labrooy, Secretary Wg Cdr PKDNS Pitigala, Asst Sec Sqn Ldr Nandakakumara, Manager Sgt Lakpriya and the Head of the training team and ‘Ange Medilla Ranapila’ of Korathota Dr. Ajantha Mahantharachchi and his team of instructors.
