The annual Air Force Avurudu Pola organized by the Directorate of Welfare was declared open by the Acting Chief of Defense Staff and Commander of the Air Force Air Chief Marshal Roshan Gunathilaka this morning 6th April 2010.  It was held at the Rifle Green Grounds SLAF Station Colombo.The “Pola” is organized each year with the aim of providing Air Force personnel and their families with house hold requirements, garments and gift items at concessionary prices during the festive season. All SLAF Bases and stations book their stalls to sell items obtained from their respective areas.  The Director Welfare Air Commodore Anura Silva coordinated and organized the event.

Deputy Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal Harsha Abyewickrama, and other members of the Air Force Board of Management were present.
